Question and Answers Session
Q: Does Adlib support e-signing of documents via digital signatures?
A: tbd
Q: Is webdav supported with D2? Also, is there is plans to remove dependecy on Java on the client?
A: D2 does not offer a webdav function. Regarding java, there are currently no specific plans to remove the java dependency. EMC agrees that the java dependency has difficulties but there is no good replacement in sight for the moment.
Q: Can I assume that TBOs are still used by D2? Things such as auto-linking and auto-population of attributes have been implemented in TBOs so that any Documentum client can take advantage of such customizations.
A: Yes, TBOs are used by D2. But you have to be careful that the TBOs do not conflict with the D2 configurations that are in place.
Q: D2- bocs , webtop-bocs-Ucf what could be the difference?
A: We are not aware of any big difference here. The same backend functionalities with ACS will be used.
Q: Does D2 provide any enhanced reporting on content/attributes and workflows?
A: Out of the box you can build complex query forms for reporting purposes. Additionally there is a reporting plugin available from an external vendor.
Q: For D2 What is min requirements Content Server?
A: D2 4.2 requires at least Content Server version 6.6
Q: Are there any limitations using workflows designed in Process Builder with D2?
A: D2 workflows support all functionalities of Process Builder that are also available in Workflow Manager. Everything that goes beyond Workflow Manager capabilities is currently not supported by D2.
Q: Is there a best practice/standard methodology to migrate wdk customizations to D2 client?
A: Please review our sample project approach as shown in the webinar. There has to be an analysis and evaluation phase in the beginning to look into the current Webtop customizations and to decide what it could look like in D2 – whether it is simple configuration, complex configuration, customization or maybe not possible at all. Please note that it might also make sense to go back to the original requirements to look for alternative approaches on how to implement it.
Q: Does D2 still use Java for any purpose?
A: Yes, java is still being used for the content transfer.
Q: Equivalent of Quickflow in D2?
A: D2 offers different configuration possibilities for similar functionalities, for example distribution lists.
Q: Can I do federated search in D2? (across docbases or different ECM systems)
A: There is no federated search mechanism included in D2.
Q: Does D2 support Centera storage?
A: The Centera connection happens in the backend, on server side, and is therefore independent from the client such as D2.
Q: How is the performance compared to webtop?
A: From our experience the performance is better, the underlying technology is executing more functionality directly on client side avoiding long refresh times.
Q: What about the consistency issues with different browsers for D2?
A: We are not aware of consistency issues between different browsers.
Q: What is the maximum size D2 supports for drag and drop functionalities?
A: We are not aware of any drag&drop size limitations provided by EMC.
Q: Does D2 work with xCP 2.x?
A: D2 and xCP are two different client technologies. It has to be looked at the specific integration requirements to see what options could be used. Via external widgets D2 allows for example to integrate any web pages / web components to add additional functionality to the client – those could be using xCP as an example.
Q: Is there a CMIS adapter in D2?
A. Documentum provides a CMIS 1.0 API but there is no specific D2 CMIS API available.
Q: If D2 is not using UCF, what has replaced UCF?
A: D2 does either use an applet or HTTP for content transfer.
Q: Could you explain little bit more on shared service in adlib?
A: tbd
Q: Does D2 do any Publishing such as virtual documents into a single PDf with Cover sheet, Table of Contents, etc that is compliant with the FDA and EMA regulations?
A: tbd
Q: Do I have to create ACLs in D2 or it support existing ACLs created in DA?
A: If you want to dynamically set ACLs based on the D2 configuration matrix, then the ACLs needs to be defined in D2. D2 auto generates the ACL the first time it is used. If an ACL with the same name already exists it will be overwritten.
Q: What is the difference between ADTS & ADLIB?
A: tbd
Q: How about Rention Policy Services support in D2?
A: A plugin for Retention Policies was provided with the last D2 version.
